The very first and foremost important thing in Islam before performing any Ibadah(religious activity) is Niyyah(pure intention). So, before anything, the pilgrim needs to set Niyyah of Umrah from the core of the heart. After having set his intention, recite Talbiya.
How to wear Ihraam:
- Set your intention for Ihraam.
- Take a bath (Ghusal).
- Put on Ihraam
- Offer Prayer (Two Rakat nafal)
- Leave home with declaring an intention for Umrah.
- Recite Talbiya loud at least once after leaving home during the journey to Al-Haram.
Things that are prohibited when in Ihraam:
- Cutting your nails
- Cutting or removing hairs from any part of the body including the head.
- Using perfume and scents.
- Wearing stitched clothes
Tawaaf is a step of a complete Umrah guide. Tawaf means moving around Kabah or taking circuits around seven times. Tawaf is done anticlockwise, which means the pilgrim’s face must be towards Kabah on their left. Wudu is a must for everyone. The right shoulder on men should be naked but only during the Tawaf. After completing Tawaf, you need to cover both your shoulders.
The Procedure of Tawaf is the main part of Umrah Procedure:
Start your circuits of tawaf during Hajj and Umrah from the Hajr-e-Aswad. So you are lucky enough to kiss it, start moving around after kissing it. If not able to kiss, it is better to touch it with your right hand. If even touching is not possible for you, just face Hajr-e-Aswad and point towards it with your right hand. After this, you should recite Bismillah, Allahu Akbar.
During the first three rounds, men need to be quick to complete them i.e. move energetically or briskly. While during the remaining four rounds, walk calm and gentle. Upon reaching Yamani corner, touch it with your right hand and recite Bismillah, Allahu Akbar. If could not touch it, just keep moving without pointing towards it. Upon reaching the fourth corner of Kabah, you should only touch Hijr-e-Aswad.
After completing all seven circles, reach Muqam-e-Ibrahim and either touch or kiss Hijr-e-Aswad. Now you need to offer two Rakat of Prayer(Nafal) near to Muqam-e-Ibrahim. If there is no place near, you can pray anywhere in the Haram. Go to Zamzam now and drink the sacred water while standing. The Tawaf is now over and you need to move towards Safah and Marwah to perform Sa’yee.
Sa’yee is another step for Umrah Procedure?, which means running or walking back and forth in-between the mounts of Safa and Marwah. There are a total of seven trips on both the mounts starting at Safah and ending at Marwah. After completing all the trips, you need to offer two Rakat Nawafil. At the end of Sa’yee males would completely shave their heads while females will clip only a length of a fingertip. this the 4th step of the Umrah procedure.
The last step is Qasar, which means getting out of the Ihraam. The Umrah is actually complete after the Sa’yee. All the rites have been completed and all the prohibitions that came with Ihraam are now lifted.
May Allah accept your Holy journey of pilgrimage of His House, The Holy Kabah.
